Washington D.C.

I've been trying to post exactly 12 photos for some time, but blogger still won't allow me to, so I've chosen 3 for now. It's quite hard to chose 12, let alone 3 out of the 5,200 photos I took on vacation. I've also been having some computer troubles, which seem to be fixed for the moment. For our vacation, we flew to Washington D.C. & stayed for almost 2 weeks. Even though we weren't able to go see the National Archives Building(due to flooding) or able to take our trip(which we cancelled) to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to watch Civil War reenactments(because my brother was very ill on the 10th-11th days), we did have an overall amazing time, were able to visit many places and experience a whole lot!

In the above 2 photos you can see the Washington Monument. The first photo was taken with its reflection in a pool of water at the World War II Memorial. The second photo was taken with the 4th of July fireworks behind it at a completely different location. In the last photo, a local college guy was dressed as Uncle Sam for the parade on July the 4th. Before I took this photo of him, my dad had taken a photo of us together. :)

Terrific firework picture patty. I had problems, tried shooting a second earlier. But we don't get to see such firework displays here. I am glad you had a feel of the capital. If you want to be a photo journalist perhaps you'll have to go there often. How's your brother now ?
Thank you so much for posting the picture that won the contest sweet Patty I am really proud. Mom and dad must be very proud too.

First off, I hope your brother is doing well after his illness. It's unfortunate your plans had to be altered.

5200 pictures Patty? Wow! That is incredible...you must have a very tender shutter button finger! ;o)

Great series of shots. The fireworks capture is nice!

Thanks, Rauf. Not really though. It was probably one of 2 that came out okay. The others were blurry & not good. My photos don't do the fireworks display justice. I wish I'd been much closer to the fireworks. They were incredible to watch. Brilliant show! Oh, I'd love to go to D.C. often! I loved riding the Metro trains & walking around(I was just getting used to my surroundings/not getting lost). My brother is 100% better, thanks.

Dave, he got better quickly. Thanks for your concern. I didn't mind so much not going to Pennsylvania, because I got to walk several blocks to the Botanic Garden and spend several hours there(again) by myself while the rest of my family split up & went to different museums. Not all my photos turned out great, but a whole heck of a lot of them did, so I do have hundreds of photos to chose from, which is somewhat challenging when trying to decide what photos to post & keeping track of what photos I've resized. Thanks for the compliments.

David, thanks. No worries, I totally understand. I've been visiting many sites yesterday & today commenting/viewing sites. I desperately need some sleep now & then later I'll go back to visiting people's sites which I haven't gotten to yet.

These are great photos Patty! I bet seeing the Washington Monument with the fireworks all around was awesome. I wanted to take a bunch of photos for the 4th but I forgot my charged battery at home, and ended up taking only a few. :)
