In each of these 5 images there is a different fountain. The fountain in the above photo(way in the background) is mostly hidden behind this guard at Arlington National Cemetery(in Arlington, Virginia) after the Changing of the Guard. Although a fountain is what ties all these images together, I don't believe the fountain has any important significance here(as far as impact). The guard, on the other hand, commands all of our attention & respect in this image.
The fountain at the National World War II Memorial.
The Bartholdi Fountain in Bartholdi Park. When either walking casually on a sunny day or hurrying huddled under an umbrella in the rain trying to escape some crazy taxi cab drivers past this area(yes, I did both, but that's another story), one cannot imagine how wonderful it actually is. This place appears quite small & only holding various shades of green, when in fact it is spacious & full of beautiful colors & sights.
The United States Capitol & its fountain(the top of it at least). I'll post closer photos of this fountain in the future.
A bird flying off the top of the fountain in the small but totally gorgeous Mary Livingston Ripley Garden(after a few horrid hours of searching for the exact name, because stupid me didn't just take a photo of the entrance sign). And sorry for any errors...it's 5:25a.m., don't be expecting too much perfection on my part.

Again, a great series of shots! The fountain and bird is outstanding!! A terrific capture.
The Mosaic Table: LOL!!! You are too funny Patty...but you are right. It is a great spot to sip tea, or on days like today in Toronto (40 degrees!!!) cold beer. :o)
Patty, that lovely shot of the bird is so great. That's the type of picture I always complain about "just missing" (when in fact I just don't have the skill to capture it!!).
All these photos of Washington D.C. make me feel like I'm there again...! I visited D.C. with my parents when I was in the States about eight years ago and I was an innocent little 12-year-old. :) I remember it being one of my favourite places in the USA. I loved all the fantastic museums and the architecture, especially the Lincoln Memorial. I'd love to come back and see it all again one day. Even though I was able to appreciate a lot of our trip around the States as a 12-year-old, I think there was a lot I would be able to appreciate more at the older, wiser age of 19 :)
thanks dave :) i actually cropped some off of the left, top & right of the bird photo...which was only more of the same grey/blue sky which you see. i wanted the detail to show more.
thanks, allie...i saw this bird fly right in front of me into some flowers, then fly & land on top of this fountain & was just trying to photograph it on the fountain, but it flew away right as i took the shot, so i got this by accident. i don't think i have some magic skill, just mabey being in the right place at the right time. do you remember seeing anything from my photos? i'll post some Lincoln Memorial photos along with a funny story sometime. oh yes, go back, it's an awesome place...such a variety of people & sights.
I remember that statue in the background at Bartholdi park, I think; the Capitol, obviously; I'm pretty sure I remember the WWII memorial. But I could be mistaken! It was eight years ago!
this bird is a nice capture...the sentiments i got was "life" represented with water and motion (bird)...
nice series!
and love the new profile pic :)
Allie, :) .....i'll be commenting on your site later tonight. i'm still trying to catch up with everyone.
Rajesh, thank you! i very much enjoyed reading your viewpoint.
hey, Sarah! thanks a lot! i am also planning on commenting on your site as well asap.
great action shot of the bird. i like the how you have left space at the top, it makes the photo look more grand.
thanks Abhinav. i think you're right-it probably wouldn't look as nice if there weren't space left above.
gr8 snap. But i would have preferred the bird in focus (know its har to do but still). Classy
thanks. true, it would be great if the bird were focused, but i'm not so sure my camera is the right instrument to capture that. i've never been great with birds, so until i get a new camera, i'm not much into capturing them.
